Latest book sheds light on the crime of domestic violence: Conviction of the Heart

I’ve just sent off the galleys for CONVICTION OF THE HEART, my next romantic suspense novel to come out from the Crimson Rose line of  The Wild Rose Press, sometime this spring. The awesome cover art from Kim Mendoza, the exciting excerpt, the great working relationship with my editor, Ally Robertson–the entire project has been a joy.

The best part for me is to have drawn so thoroughly on my own life and experience as a family law attorney who works in the field of domestic violence. I’ve found my work with these survivors to be some of the most rewarding of my career. As hard as it might be to watch these women and men choreograph their lives to live in safety until they can summon the courage/money/simple good timing to extricate themselves from the situations in which they’ve found themselves, I can only imagine how hard it is for them to dance that dance, sometimes feeling so alone. It’s been an honor and privilege for me to help, when I can, and I’ve dedicated the book to all those who work with DV survivors. It’s good work. Bless each and every one of you.

CONVICTION OF THE HEART tells the story of one such case, when Suzanne Taylor, the attorney in question, takes on the battered wife of a city councilman. The politician is heavily connected, and Suzanne finds that not just her client, but her own life, family and loves come into the zone of danger with her. She must save her client to save them all. It’ll be out in the next few months. Stay tuned. In the meantime, check out your local DV shelter and find out how you can help. TODAY.
